2016, 4 Inkjet prints on archival paper 120cm X 87cm
These prints are digital composites of camouflage nets used by the military to hide equipment or sites from surveillance. There are four images in this series, each subtitled with the type of terrain they are designed to resemble: desert, jungle, Pacific, and woodland. To make them, Evron scanned variously sized and shaped pieces of camo nets and digitally rearranged them into dense yet flat compositions. Although economic in its visual presentation, this series of prints touches upon many complexities, including the ironic cycle of using images of the land to conquer more land, and the thin line between representation and the “real.” (LR)
